Terry, trading as HoltonArt, is a member of the Armadale Society of Artists and has his own website, www.holtonart.com, illustrating most of his works.
Terry commenced his current art career in December 2021. His intricate paintings are influenced by his architectural background and have a unique realistic style, characterised by bold and bright colours. He works mostly with acrylics on stretched canvas or textured paper. As an architect he often illustrated his architectural building designs, and in the 1980's he undertook a series of landscapes, drawing from his experiences in Kakadu National Park and the Kimberley. He has recently completed a series on SW Australia, Northern Australia and also Tasmania, based on his recent trips there.
Much of his art involves exploring man-made or naturally occurring unusual formations that enhance the landscape and are significant to our environment. He loves the interaction of water, sea life, and rock formations in rock pools and the abstract formation of rocks and sky with their colourful combination of rich colours. He enjoys illustrating bridges, rockpools, beaches and villages, when they use natural materials to integrate with landscaped water features. He has been shortlisted in many art exhibitions in WA, including the prestigious Minnawarra and Ellenbrook Art Awards.
